Having stood without a challenger,Kennett will serve his fourth team as Hawthorn president. He initially led the club between 2005 and 2011 before returning in late 2017. His first term of that second stint is coming to a close.
That Kennett is sticking around for another three years means he will remain at the helm when veteran coach Alastair Clarkson's contract is due to expire at the end of 2022. Clarkson has been Hawthorn coach since the end of 2004 but his long-term future at the club came into question repeatedly this year as the Hawks tumbled down the ladder during a dismal season in which they were not helped by an incredibly unkind fixture.
Kennett will also continue to oversee the club's planned relocation from Waverley to Dingley and steer the Hawks'push for an AFLW team.
Kennett informed Hawthorn members of his decision in a letter on Tuesday.
"Can I report that at the close of nominations for your board,as there were no more candidates than vacancies,Luke Stambolis and Owen Wilson were elected unopposed and that will be confirmed at our AGM,"Kennett wrote.
"Peter Nankivell was re-elected[vice-president],as was I as your president for the next three years.
"Can I personally thank the membership for their support of my continuing leadership of the club.
