Thank you for three wonderful reads:“”,“” and “”[September 26]. It’s a pleasure to have such varied,well-written articles to spend a Sunday morning with. More please.Karen Cockerill,Surf Beach,NSW
Good Food
In these lockdown times,I have been trying new recipes, and Neil Perry’s and Karen Martini’s[September 26] look delicious, especially as spring has suddenly become wintry here in Melbourne.Susan Munday,Bentleigh East,Vic
The other waiting game
The poignancy of Mick Barnes’ rekindled romance[September 26] moved me to tears. “It was a moment that transcended the award” – an amazing remark. I can identify with it all, having met an old love later in life. It goes to show love and romance never age. How lucky we are.Kyle Kendall,Ascot Vale,Vic
Two of Us
An encouraging comment from[September 26] concerning the need “to work on relationships”,something that is often forgotten. She further observes that “when you have children, someone has to rear them and that was me,so I stopped working full time...” This arrangement is not often accepted in the modern era of career-focused work versus parenting. Parenting is an undervalued career in our society.Elizabeth Stanford,Tumut,NSW
Heavy Petting
Laughing out loud over my porridge reading Frank Robson’s[September 26]. Thanks for the fun start to the day.Sue Nelson,Cororooke,Vic
Modern Guru
My husband drew my attention to,saying,“You must read Danny Katz,Lou.” I sat down, read it and burst out laughing. “Isn’t that the question I posed to you last week?” I said. I wash when the weather is conducive for drying, and in Melbourne that can be a challenge. After a week of inclement weather,it was time. I washed 10 pairs of my knickers but only three pairs of my husband’s undies. It’s beyond me as to where his dirty undies go. And I thought he was unique. I now realise he’s no different to many others.Louise McCall,Nunawading,Vic
Watch,Read,Listen
I loved the opening paragraph to your by Greg Callaghan[September 26],which had brilliant observations. It made my Sunday evening.Gael Molloy,Allentown,PA,United States
The Full Bottle
Thank you Huon Hooke for your[September 19]. I once opened a nice bottle of shiraz the night before flying out to Europe. After enjoying a glass,I realised my mistake. Not wanting to waste the wine,I put the remainder in the freezer – what could I lose? Two months later I returned and thawed the bottle. To my surprise,it tasted perfectly good. Is this an acceptable way of saving wine from spoiling?Ken Howarth,Bathurst,NSW
