The closure will mean longer taxiing times and more air traffic along the new flight paths in use since 2020.
Brisbane Airport Corporation spokesman Stephen Beckett said the runway would be closed from 10am to 4pm.
He said there were not expected to be delays or disruptions as a result of Wednesday’s runway work.
“Scheduled maintenance plays a critical role in keeping our runways safe for the more than 20 million passengers who use our Brisbane Airport every year,” Beckett said.
“[The airport’s] dual runway system allows for routine work to be carried out with minimal impact on passengers and flights.
“Works will commence after the morning peak and be finished before the evening peak.”
An Airservices Australia spokeswoman said such maintenance was a regular occurrence,but the air traffic management service would monitor any effects on plane movements.
“Airservices Australia will work with our customer airlines to reduce any potential airborne delays,” she said.
