Fire at Kununurra high school causes $2 million damage

A fire at a Kununurra high school has caused over $2 million damage,and will mean its temporary closure over the school holidays while repairs are carried out.

Police were called to Kununurra District High School just after 3.30am in the early hours of Sunday morning.

They discovered a fire in the building and called emergency services.

The Home Economics building was destroyed in the blaze,and significant damage was done to other school structures.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has estimated the damage to be approximately $2 million dollars,including school equipment and building damage.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the fire,who saw any suspicious activity,persons or vehicles.
