Trump’s surrender comes after several of his 18 alleged co-conspirators also turned themselves in,including Rudy Giuliani,John Eastman and Sidney Powell.
The former New York mayor was indicted last week,along with former president Donald Trump and 17 others.
“I am here today to surrender to an indictment that should never have been brought,” lawyer John Eastman said at court.
Trump’s bond has been set and the former president is also prohibited from communicating “in any way,directly or indirectly” about the facts of the case.
The charges in Georgia under anti-organised crime laws carry a penalty of between five and 20 years in prison. Crucially for Trump,they are also unpardonable.
