Roxy Jacenko goes thrift shopping, drops $32,000 on second-hand bag

Not everything is as it seems in the world of social media. Just last week publicity maven and serial entrepreneurRoxy Jacenko shared her latest designer purchase, the ultra-exclusive,limited edition Hermès Bleu de Prusse ‘Endless Road’ 50 Birkin handbag.

Roxy Jacenko is believed to be the mystery buyer behind luxury Hermes Birkin bag from Shapiro Auctioneers.

The rare accessory features a Californian landscape and retails for a whopping $52,000.

However, within hours of the bag being shared on Instagram,Emerald City noticed that the very same arm candy had been passed in at Shapiro Auctioneers at theirFine Jewellery and Luxury Design. It is understood that Jacenko is the mystery buyer, and she scored the bag for no more than $32,000.

In addition to Hermès,the mum-of-two also boasts a range of designer bags from the likes of Chanel,Balenciaga,Saint Laurent,Dior, and Fendi estimated to be worth upwards of $1 million.

“It’s like artwork for me;it’s a sense of achievement,” she said of her bag collection in her TV specialI Am...Roxy.

Like any serious collector of designer goods,Jacenko no longer stores her leather valuables at her Vaucluse mansion. Emerald City understands her prized handbag collection is now kept in a temperature-controlled vault in Sydney’s CBD.

In recent years Roxy’s bag collection may have grown, but she has offloaded much of her designer wardrobe via Instagram and secondhand site Vestire, trading it in for a casual uniform consisting of a white T-shirt,black leggings and Asics trainers.

In fact,Roxy refuses to dine anywhere that won’t give her a table while she’s wearing activewear.

Sydney’s wealthy set is no stranger to buying second-hand. Roxy’s former protégé Francesca Packer Barham, eldest grandchild of the lateKerry Packer, was the mystery bidder at the very same auction house back in 2020,dropping a whopping $575,000 on a 17.34 carat emerald-cut diamond ring.

Jacenko did not respond to Emerald City’s request for comment.
