The possibility of an upset was always on the cards, but if you guessed this I would like to meet you,hug you,and ask you about tomorrow’s Lotto numbers.
It’s another classic Grammys head-scratcher:Jon Batiste, the band leader on Stephen Colbert’sLate Show, has won the night’s biggest prize, album of the year, for his albumWe Are.
“I believe this to my core… the creative arts are subjective,” goes his acceptance speech, which is the wildest start to a winner’s speech ever.
He goes on to mention how much he loves music, that it’s a “spiritual practice” rather than entertainment, and urges his fellow musicians to “just keep going,be you”.
If you look back on one of the earliest posts on this blog, you might see a bit where I literally wrote:“Who’s likely to own the night? Jon Batiste. Ha,just kidding.”
Joke’s on me,I guess. And you,and the Recording Academy,and the world,and life,and death. I hate you,Grammys,but also,I love you. Never change.
