In good news for ABC Melbourne,which fell to in the first survey of this year,the broadcaster has climbed 0.6 points from the previous survey to an overall share of 8 per cent.
ABC also enjoyed gains among its other stations:in Melbourne,Radio National increased by 0.2 points to 2.1 per cent,NewsRadio was up 0.3 points to 1.4 per cent,youth network Triple J grew by 0.2 points to 3.7 per cent,and ABC Classic also rose 0.2 points to 1.4 per cent.
Fox recorded a 10.5 per cent share of Melbourne’s radio listeners (up 1.1 percentage points) while FM king Gold took a 12.4 per cent slice (down 0.3 points).
3AW suffered the biggest drop (down 2.3 points) while retaining its crown with a 13.5 per cent share.
Smooth is now the third-ranked FM station on 8.5 per cent (down 0.8 points),followed by Kiis on 7.1 per cent (up 0.2 points),Triple M on 6.9 per cent (up 0.9 points),and Nova on 5.7 per cent (down 0.6 points).
It is important to note that many programs do not correlate precisely with pre-determined timeslots from ratings provider GfK,which now measures audiences using a range of methods to capture listening across traditional AM and FM broadcasts,the DAB+ digital platform,and streaming via devices such as phones and internet-enabled smart speakers.
In the crucial breakfast slot,3AW’s Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft enjoyed a thumping lead of 18.5 per cent,despite shedding 3.2 points. Gold’sThe Christian O’Connell Show took second place with an 11.5 per cent share (down 0.7 points),with Fox’sFifi,Fev&Nick program breathing down his neck on 11 per cent (up 1.5 points – the biggest gain in breakfast). ABC Radio Melbourne’s Sammy J did almost as well,jumping 1.4 points to a share of 10.1 per cent.
In mornings,3AW’s was No. 1 with a 15.7 per cent share (down 3.9 points),followed by Gold’s Craig Huggins on 14 per cent (up 0.8 points). In fourth place,ABC Radio Melbourne’sMornings with Rafael Epstein andThe Conversation Hour with Richelle Hunt contributed to an 8.8 per cent share (up 1.1 points).
Fox’sCarrie&Tommy program won the drive slot on 11.8 per cent (up 2.3 points),leapfrogging Gold’sDave ‘Higgo’ Higgins show on 11.3 per cent (down 1.9 points). 3AW’s Tom Elliott had a 10.2 per cent share (down 1 point). ABC Radio Melbourne’s Ali Moore came in seventh on 7.3 per cent (down 0.8 points).
