“Needling” seems to be the word on every beauty-lover’s lips,so I thought it was time to give the procedure a go.

The lowdown I am at The Skin Bar in Sydney’s Double Bay,well known for minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatments. After prepping me with numbing cream, the therapist works a set of microneedles attached to a medical-grade pen over my face to create tiny, evenly spaced punctures in my skin. These micro-punctures create a pathway to the deeper dermal layer, which triggers a wound-healing response in the skin, resulting in increased collagen and elastin production. During the treatment, the antioxidant-rich serum Biologi BF Restore Face and Body Serum (adorebeauty.com.au,$72) helps aid healing. You can’t apply make-up for eight hours afterwards,so it’s best to have needling done late in the day.

Pain factor It felt a little like sandpaper being rubbed on my skin and there was also blood on my face. The next day,a few small blemishes popped up,which I had been warned might happen.

Downtime Forty-five minutes.

Results After five days,my skin felt well moisturised and was glowing.

Mr Smith Comb.

Mr Smith Comb.Jennifer Soo

My son Jonah lost his prized vintage Kiehl’s comb,so I was on a mission to find a replacement for his rather fabulous slightly wavy hair (no bias here). Bingo! The Mr Smith Comb (adorebeauty.com.au,$30) is top of my list, its wide teeth perfect for both wet and dry hair.

I’ll be without lash extensions while travelling. How should I care for my natural lashes?

It’s great to give your natural lashes a break. Invest in a lash-growth serum such as Talika Lipocils Expert Lash Enhancer Serum (mecca.com.au,$77) and apply at night as close to the upper lash line as possible. Then rediscover mascara.
