The best new fragrances to take you into summer

These fragrant delights crossed my desk and I just couldn’t resist:Hermès boasts fresh bursts of citron, juniper berry and pepper;Sśaint has a heady mix of coriander, myrrh, amber and vanilla;and Map of the Heart features juicy red apples, guava and spice.

Road Test

The Swiss Alps are alive and so is my skin after a wonderful facial at the historic Kulm Hotel in St Moritz.

The lowdown I took the train up though the beautiful Swiss Alps to my destination, the Kulm Hotel St Moritz, which overlooks a lake and is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. For winter sports buffs, this is the home of the Cresta Run,bobsledding started here, and the park area of the Kulm Hotel hosted the opening ceremony for both the 1928 and 1948 Winter Olympics. After checking in to a room clad in local pine that fills the air with alpine scent,I’m booked in for a Valmont Hydration Treatment. My therapist,Vivi, begins by cleaning my eyes, lips and face. She follows with an exfoliant, then cleanses my skin using a face foam and primes it with a hydrating lotion. Next comes a moisture-boosting mask;finally she applies face serum, eye cream and SPF.

Pain factor None. It’s all pleasure.

Downtime Sixty minutes.

Results I had been prevented from even touching my face for ages as my hands had been encased in plaster following a cycling accident,so the touch of the therapist’s hands was exquisite. I emerged with my crocodile skin magically smooth.

Where to get it St Moritz:Kulm Hotel,kulm.com. Cost:about $395.

How can I protect my hair from heat damage?

Before you apply heat to your hair, use a protectant to create a barrier between your open hair shaft and the heat source. Try spritzingOribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray $99,from Adore Beauty,on your hands, work it through your hair, then use a wide-tooth comb to spread it before styling.
