8am The only thing that drags me out of bed is an instant coffee before my morning run.

9.30amBreakfast is bacon and eggs while having an overindulgent scroll through social media and I end up on my second – unplanned – run to get to a rehearsal on time.

1pmMy lunch break calls for a walk to Japanese restaurant No.18 Ramen with cast mates. I have teriyaki chicken.

7.30pmSteak,broccolini,and then feeling not quite full I have a slice of Vegemite toast. Around 9pm,I consume five cookies in the space of two minutes.

Dr Joanna McMillan says

Top marks for …Including a range of protein-rich foods as each has a variety of additional essential nutrients. You also don’t eat between meals during the day, helping you avoid less healthy snacks and ensure you are hungry for meals.

If you keep eating like this you’ll …Risk your gut health as your day is very low in fibre-rich plant foods. You fall short on vegies and wholegrains and have no fruit, legumes, nuts or seeds.

Why don’t you try …Swap the bacon for avocado, spinach and mushrooms to enjoy with your eggs. Serve three vegies or a gorgeous mixed salad with your steak. Improve the filling power of dinner by adding a dessert of yoghurt with berries and chopped nuts or seed topping.

Maxwell Simon leads the cast ofThe Grinning Manmusical at Alex Theatre,St Kilda until May 19.
