Jodie and I knew we wanted to start a business together but needed the right idea. We came up with it on the beach up on the Gold Coast around Christmas 2008. It was one of those hot summer days and it was starting to get shady in the late afternoon. We were relaxed after lunch,I'd been for a swim, and we were basking in the sun tossing around ideas.
My sisters were there and they were talking about designing their own shoes on a recent trip to Asia. Our business was to be a website that enabled women not only to design their own shoes but to have them custom-made. We would call it Shoes of Prey - and we founded it in 2009,along with our friend Mike Knapp.
Jodie and I had a pretty good idea that working together would work out well.
I don't think we fought any more than most couples do,but found when we had time to socialise it just wasn't exciting to be with each other. The thrill faded and we drifted into being good friends.
