"Applying the concept was hard,I could see what I had to do but couldn't do it,"Gundalai said.
"They were curveballs because probability isn't supposed to be hard but they made things that weren't difficult really difficult somehow,"Damian Rondan,17,said.
For the maths extension 2 students, who did the highest level of maths offered, the hardest questions were also the final ones on probability that asked them to apply the binomial theorem.
"I didn't know how to do it,it's not the style of question I'm used to,"Oyuka Munkhbat,17,said.

"You have to think outside the box,you can't just use the formula, you really have to think about how to derive the first part to get to the second part and then get to the final answer."
Both Oyuka and Sonia Fu,17,said they thought about dropping maths extension 2 during the year but are happy they kept it.
