Blicavs impressed with the Southside Flyers in the WNBL this season and she will play under her Australian Opals coach Sandy Brondello at the Mercury.
But the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed back the WNBA season indefinitely, although the league will hold its annual draft remotely next week.
"This is how I saw my life panning out but,in saying that,I saw it panning out this way before I did my knee,"Blicavs toldThe Age on Friday.
"Through the comeback and recovering, this means the world to me. I'm so excited but now here we go with coronavirus and another spanner in the works."
The WNBA season was meant to start in May,but teams now hope to start training camp sometime in June then start the season.
Travel restrictions in Australia and the US could also make it difficult for Blicavs and other overseas players.
"It's just wait and see,"Blicavs said."We will prepare for mid-June,end of June for training camp but otherwise we will just keep getting weekly updates from the WNBA and the players'association.
