Mr MacSporran described the matter as"complex"and a large investigation that had to take much time to follow through.

He said this information was not made to the public, despite beliefs circulating that the investigation began in May.

"The investigation is finished and we’re going to issue a public report, which should be in the next couple of weeks,"he said.

"We don’t go public and say that because as soon as we say that everyone starts thinking there’s something that someone has to answer for, which may well be the case but its unfair until the report comes out."

The member for South Brisbane said her solicitors forwarded correspondence to the CCC on February 3 this year requesting the CCC to advise whether they had received and were considering a complaint.

"The CCC responded on February 4,2020 advising they were not prepared to comment on whether they had received a complaint,"Ms Trad said.

"I stood aside on May 10 after being formally advised that I was under investigation by the CCC."

Mr MacSporran said the investigation becoming public was"not our choice".

"It was the choice of our deputy premier and she made that choice I would say appropriately based on the protocol that had been put in place as I understand it form the premier that if an MP or a minister particularly is under investigation by the CCC then they would stand down,"he said.
