The latest application for the rarely-used serious crime prevention orders,if granted by the court, would stop them using any encrypted phones and apps. They would need to register their phones and computers with police and provide access to the devices on request.
The proposed orders, seen byThe Sydney Morning Herald, would prohibit the men from possessing or wearing bikie “colours” – the vest or clothing bearing gang logos, rank and other details – as well as other paraphernalia bearing bikie logos or slogans.
This would include jewellery bearing the “1%” slogan commonly used by bikie gang members, the “Fat Mexican” slogan associated with the Bandidos, and other imagery linked to bikies.
Under the orders, the men would also be prevented from possessing cash over the value of $10,000 or speaking to each other and anyone associated with the Comanchero and Bandido outlaw motorcycle gangs.
Mr Bazzi and Mr Zahed are high-ranking figures in the Comanchero gang while the other man,who was once associated with the same gang,is now linked to the Bandidos.
Court documents reveal police thinking on the senior gang positions held by the defendants.
