“I saw them on the ground,on the floor,and they just shot ... his head. Very crazy. I think he got more than 20 bullets,” witness Aziz Alruken said.
“I just tried to hide myself behind the treadmill until everything was done.”
At least two gunmen were involved. Police say they had warned the brothers they had a target on their heads as recently as late last week.
“They were warned as of last Thursday that their lives were at risk,but their lives had been at risk for some time,” State Crime Commander Assistant Commissioner Michael Fitzgerald told reporters.
“Their lives had been at risk because one is a senior member of the Comanchero Motorcycle Gang,which is Australia’s largest criminal organisation. They had been warned on countless other occasions.”
Tarek,a married father of one,was shot in the head,legs and body and was taken to hospital in a critical condition where he has undergone multiple operations.
