Ex-Vaucluse teacher charged with sexually assaulting five- and six-year-olds

A former Vaucluse teacher has been charged with the sexual assault of six primary school students in the 1980s.

Michael Anthony Lunn,68,was arrested at a home in Bullaburra,in the Blue Mountains,shortly before 10am on Tuesday after a year-long investigation by Sydney eastern suburbs police.

Officers had been investigating reports that six students,aged between five and six,were allegedly sexually assaulted by a teacher at a Vaucluse school four decades ago.

Lunn was taken to Katoomba police station and charged with seven sexual assault offences,one for sexual intercourse without consent of a person under 16 and six relating to the indecent assault of a child.

He was refused police bail and his case came before Penrith Local Court on Wednesday.

He was granted bail by magistrate Fiona Toose on a $50,000 security and conditions including that he is not to be in the company of any child under the age of 16,does not consume alcohol or illicit drugs,lives at an address in Bullaburra and does not enter any international point of departure.

He is to report three times a week to Katoomba police and is not to go near or contact the six complainants.

Lunn’s matter was adjourned to Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on October 6.
