Man charged over alleged murder of mother

A man has been arrested and faced court on Tuesday for allegedly murdering his mother,who disappeared from Sydney’s west in 2018.

In December 2018,officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command established Strike Force Admarality to investigate the disappearance of 71-year-old Nadire Sensoy from her home in Prospect.

As part of their inquiries,strike force detectives made a public appeal for information and announced a $350,000 reward for information about her disappearance.

A coronial inquest into Sensoy’s suspected death,which began on March 13,was suspended soon after new information came to light.

Following subsequent inquiries,police arrested Sensoy’s son,Selim Sensoy,at Wagga Wagga police station on Tuesday.

He was charged with murder (domestic violence) and refused bail. He appeared before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Tuesday and was refused bail.

Police will allege he murdered his mother between December 6 and December 11,2018,in the Blacktown area.

Nadire’s daughter Sue Sensoy said the focus was now on finding her mother’s body. “She was a beautiful woman and everybody loved her,” she toldNine News.
