Man dies after turning up at Sydney hospital with gunshot wounds

Police believe the “targeted” fatal shooting of a Mount Druitt man in western Sydney early on Saturday was gang-related.

Finks bikie associate Jamie Goodworth,32,was dropped off at Liverpool Hospital with two gunshot wounds at 12.53am,by a man in a blue vehicle.

A western Sydney man with gunshot wounds has died after arriving at Liverpool Hospital.

“That male was resuscitated at the hospital and placed into emergency surgery but unfortunately, despite the best efforts of medical staff,he passed away from his injuries,” Liverpool area commander Superintendent Adam Whyte said.

“We’re undertaking a number of inquiries in relation to locations associated, and we currently have the blue vehicle in our custody.”

Whyte said the shooting “does appear to be targeted”.

Police did not say if they knew where the victim had been shot, but said they were working through several lines of inquiry with detectives from State Crime Command.

Goodworth died while undergoing emergency surgery and was not interviewed by police, who were called to the hospital about 1.20am.

“He was known to police,” Whyte said.

Police are seeking the man who dropped off Goodworth at the hospital, and are conducting inquiries with Goodworth’s associates.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation and are appealing for anyone with information to contact Liverpool Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
