Never take a byte

“While not my normal genre, today I noticed one of those ubiquitous church message boards at Nelson Bay,” says Seppo Ranki of Glenhaven. “It read ‘Adam and Eve were the first people to not read Apple’s terms and conditions’.”

Paul Hunt of Engadine writes:“When George Manojlovic won C8’s first most prolific contributor competition, the column published some of his best efforts. One of those concerned the just-deceased film legend Gina Lollobrigida. George was on the same plane when she was travelling from Canberra to Sydney many years ago. There was a baby constantly crying and Gina asked the mother if she could rock and cuddle the child. Gina did just that and soothed the baby. A wag sitting next to George leaned over and whispered ‘Start crying’. Simply wonderful item.” Very modest of Paul in not mentioning that he missed out on the gong that year on a recount.

Continuing on from Bob Phillips’ (C8) sampling of gun culture,Ian Norrie of Avalon Beach recalls that “At the check-in at a regional airport in Idaho was a sign:‘Please unload your guns before boarding’. Also a quiet flight.”

According to Carole Baxter of Woodgate Beach (Qld),some passengers deserve a bagging:“I watched at Perth Airport as a man took my bag and despite me calling out,he kept racing away,so I chased him (I’m old and unfit). Even when I told him my name was on the bag,he still insisted it was his. I grabbed it from him and was angry because chasing him meant my granddaughter’s shoe I was waiting for on the carousel (C8) was missed, never to be seen!” Hopefully, she wasn’t still wearing it.

A word to Jack Dikian from Judy Jones of Thornleigh:“On cordless extension leads (C8) – they are called batteries.”

Bryan Hayes of Dunmore has cracked the formula:“Like many of my generation, late middle age (very late),I have found in a long life that the costs of most things in life double every eight years. If you take Carole Dawes’ example of school fee of $570 in 1970 and double it every eight years, then in 53 years you will find that today’s fee of $45,000 is quite reasonable. Plunge pool or no plunge pool.”

Hey,Adrian Connelly! Meri Will of Northmead and Peter Neufeld of Mosman both want to know what an elevator (C8) is.
