Sydney kickboxer extradited from Thailand charged with alleged Leichhardt murder

Almost eight years after Bradley Dillon was fatally shot and stabbed in Leichhardt, one of his alleged killers has been extradited from Thailand to face a murder charge.

A 25-year-old father allegedly attempting to recoup money his sister was owed,Dillon was shot three times in the back and stabbed four or five times during an altercation in a shopping centre’s car park in 2014.

Homicide squad detectives have extradited a man from Thailand and charged him over his alleged involvement in the 2014 murder of Abbotsford man,Bradley Dillon.

Antonio “Tony” Bagnato was extradited from Bangkok by NSW homicide detectives on Saturday morning and taken to Mascot police station, where he was charged with Dillon’s 2014 death.

“Following extensive inquiries, detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for a 33-year-old man,” NSW Police said in a statement.

Bagnato,a kickboxer also known as Tony Bang, had been in Thailand since 2014.

Earlier this year,Bagnato’s co-accused and cousin,Diego Carbone, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for his role in Dillon’s death.

He had previously been convicted of Dillon’s murder, but that conviction was quashed and he was re-tried and found guilty last year.

Homicide squad commander Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said the extradition was years in the making.

“Concurrent to various court processes, investigators have continued to work tirelessly to ensure this man faced justice for his alleged involvement in Mr Dillon’s murder,” he said.

“Bradley was a father who was senselessly murdered, and the simple fact is that if you engage in that sort of violent behaviour, police will always track you down and hold you to account,” he said.

Bagnato was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday, where he did not apply for bail. The case will be mentioned at Downing Centre Local Court on September 22.
