The man was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital with head injuries after paramedics were called just before 8.20pm to Gladstone Road in Highgate Hill.
Another man,in his 40s,was taken to the same hospital about 11pm after falling from an e-scooter at West End.
Further north,a man in his 40s was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital with facial injuries after falling off an e-scooter at Scarness just before 2am on Sunday.
of presentations to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in 2021 showed an average of 1.5 patients arrived with e-scooter-related injuries daily.
Since the start of 2019,there have been 3305 presentations to Queensland Injury Surveillance Unit emergency departments.
Research by the Jamieson Trauma Institute for the RACQ and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Foundation found 63 per cent of presentations were male,and the average age of patients was 30.
RACQ’s principal technical researcher,Andrew Kirk,said the data showed more than 50 per cent of patients suffered head and facial injuries,which indicated some users were still not wearing helmets.
“The research shows more care is desperately needed,” he said last month.
