Twelve-year-old boy dies after being hit by car in Mulgrave

A 12-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a car in Melbourne’s south-east on Friday.

The collision occurred at 4.30pm Friday on Police Road in Mulgrave,near the Southern Reserve.

A spokeswoman for Victoria Police said the Noble Park North boy was treated by paramedics but died in hospital. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their investigation.

“The circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established and the investigation remains ongoing,” the spokeswoman said.

Two other fatal crashes occurred on Friday,bringing the road toll to 36 lives lost on Victorian roads so far this year.

A man died in a single-vehicle crash in Flowerdale,95 kilometres north of Melbourne,after his car left the Whittlesea-Yea Road and hit a tree about 6pm.

The 82-year-old driver,who was alone in the car,died at the scene.

Police are also investigating the death of a motorcyclist who they believe lost control while navigating a bend on Wodonga-Beechworth Road in the Indigo Valley just before 8.30pm Friday.

CPR was performed at the scene,but the yet-to-be-identified solo rider died.
