Bayswater residents told stay indoors as firies battle waste facility blaze

Firefighters are battling a blaze at a waste facility in Bayswater that broke out early Thursday morning.

A HAZMAT warning has been issued for people in an area bounded by Broun Avenue,Collier Road and Tonkin Highway may be impacted by the potentially dangerous smoke.

Residents have been told to stay indoors due to potentially dangerous smoke billowing from the business that rents out skip bins.

The fire at Perth Bin Hire on Duffy Street,near the intersection of Jackson Street,was first reported about 5.30am.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area,reduce speed and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel.

Department of Water and Environmental Regulation’s pollution response unit is on the way.
