Cassius was walking with friends along a Middle Swan street when Brearley,Mitchell Colin Forth,Aleesha Louise Gilmore, and Brodie Lee Palmer drove up and allegedly pulled over to confront and attack the teenagers with a metal pole.

Police said Brearley’s car had been damaged the previous day and the alleged assault could have been a case of mistaken identity.

Cassius’ death sparked a nationwide outcry of grief and anger, and vigils were held for the young schoolboy across Australia.

Three people charged over the alleged murder of Indigenous teenager Cassius Turvey today faced court.

The teenager was remembered as a role model to his friends, had started his own lawn-mowing business, and was invited at age 11 to deliver an acknowledgement of country at the WA parliament

Brearley,Forth,Gilmore and Palmer, all appeared via video link in the WA Supreme Court on Wednesday and spoke only to acknowledge their names.

The court was packed with supporters of Cassius’ family, leaving standing room only.

A lawyer for one of the accused told the court that because Gilmore,Palmer and Forth were only recently charged, they had yet to develop their case and asked for the matter to be adjourned until May 24.
