With Royel shredding his guitar on the left and Otis singing on the right the pair opened the night withSonic Blue from their debut album released in February.

Their hour-long set flew by featuring songs from their EPsSofa Kings andBar and Grill with singles likeBull Breed,VelvetandAdoredkeeping the crowd hooked.

The Sydney indie kings and 2023 ARIA nominees for Breakthrough Artist of the Year have created a unique atmosphere with their raw talent and authenticity and have clearly found their vibe on stage.

But it hasn’t been easy with Royel previously stating in the early days he was often physically sick with anxiety before gigs, hence his pink hair framing his face like a block-out curtain a la Sia.

More recently the pair have garnered attention for their cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’sMurder on theDancefloor for triple j’sLike A Version which has rocked up the ARIA charts. The 2001 song lit up the crowd who sang and danced to the anthem which is now firmly a dual generation smash hit.

The night ended withOysters in my Pocket andKool Aid and the feeling that these two are destined for the big time.

Royel Otis will be continuing their tour across Australia before heading to America and Europe next month.
