On the flip side,the city’s more well-heeled western suburbs have earned their reputation as Perth’s answer toSex and the City,with an impressive concentration of single women.

Seven of the top 10 female-majority suburbs have a median house value exceeding $1 million,with Claremont and Applecross having a median house value of around $2 million.

Dating coach Karina Chapman said where you lived played a role in dating opportunities,but the impact has shifted significantly with the rise of online dating.

“In smaller rural or male-dominated areas — such as mining towns — single women may have more potential partners to choose from. However,sheer numbers don’t always guarantee quality matches,” she said.

“Values,compatibility,lifestyle alignment,and relationship goals are more important factors than just being available and in the same location.”

Chapman said while online dating has made it easier for singles to connect beyond their immediate surroundings,location still mattered.

“Many people do prefer dating locally due to convenience,shared lifestyles,and social circles. However,for those open to long-distance relationships,online platforms can greatly expand dating opportunities,” she said.

The dating coach said it was unsurprising that single women outnumber men in many of the wealthy western suburbs.

“Wealthier areas often attract career-focused,financially independent women who may prioritise personal growth and professional success before settling down or being open to looking for love,” she said.

“And some single men in these demographics may relocate to areas with more affordable housing or where they perceive better dating prospects. If they work in the mining industry,then these men may feel it is pointless to own an expensive property in a wealthy western suburb that they are hardly ever there to enjoy.”
