Race-by-race preview and tips for Hawkesbury on Thursday

Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 1:15PM HAWKESBURY CUP DAY 4 MAY SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1500 METRES)

Keen on 7. Jawharat Dubai, who profiles well for this and is set to peak third-up. Both of her runs this prep have had merit, and she ran hidden closing splits first-up before having excuses last start in a high-rating race. She was checked/blocked at key stages and forced back into the inferior ground, but she showed late strength, indicating a rise in trip is ideal. All key indicators suggest an improved performance, and with even luck, expect her to be hard to hold out.

Dangers:8. Rip Off comes through the same race at Kensington 15 days ago,and has the SP edge over Jawharat Dubai after starting half the odds. Forgive that effort after she was caught three-wide out on a limb while working at a fast pace. Her peak figure came at this track and repeating that effort will put her in the finish.5. Wizards was solid on debut at this track 19 days ago after only having one trial leading into that assignment. Moreover,he was solid late and getting out to 1500m suits.1. Chentileeno is racing well and rock-hard fit.
How to play it: Jawharat Dubai WIN.

Race 2 - 1:50PM HRC MOTEL F&M MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

Leaning towards2. Missy No Nay,who represents value, and she can bounce back here after having no luck first-up at Wyong. The filly was caught three-wide out on a limb, working throughout in a good-even tempo and to her credit, she never shirked her task to the line to finish fifth. That race rated well relative to the day;she will have only improved from that effort. Her late sectionals suggest the rise in trip suits, receives a gear change, and a bigger track is ideal. Each-way.
Dangers:9. Flightcrew is wound up for this event, having two solid hitouts at the trials, and can sprint fresh. Expecting her to be ridden with cover, and she has multiple winning figures.7. Rubikins resumes off a 353-day break and has trialled impressively. The Chris Waller-trained runner has gone through the line full of energy, and she profiles well for this assignment. 8. Silver Cliff drops to provincial grade and add1. Ny Kee,who is now at optimal fitness.
How to play it: Miss No Nay E/W.

Race 3 - 2:25PM TAB WE’RE ON CG&E MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

Debutant4. Bellenth has won two trials leading into this and has improved between heats. The three-year-old moved well in his latest trial at this track and ran slick time relative to the morning. He was ridden out but went through the line full of energy. He has an improver’s action and is wound up for this event. He maps to have all favours, and expect him to run well.
Dangers:1. Je Reve is 29 days between runs but brings strong form lines and figures into this.10. Alabama State is coming through a proven form reference and returns to his home track. Add8. Gogmagog, who draws well and is rock-hard fit.
How to play it: Bellenth WIN.

Race 4 - 3:00PM SKY RACING PROVINCIAL MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

3. Jared was a drifter in the betting first-up at Gosford, and he had too much to do. The three-year-old wasn’t suited to the race shape, had to make a long-wide sustained run and peaked late. Expecting him to bounce off that effort as he’s much more suited to a bigger track, and he has a strong record at Hawkesbury. Additionally, the significant barrier change allows him to settle closer, and he finds a winnable race.
Dangers:Debutant2. Another Road has had two trials leading into this without the blinkers. He sets up well here from a kind draw, the blinkers go on for race day,and he is a key late market watch.8. Bloomin Gold ran hidden closing splits on debut and add5. Alesund to wider exotics.
How to play it: Jared WIN.

Race 5 - 3:35PM PIONEER SERVICES CONDITIONAL BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (1800 METRES)

7. Nyota receives a much more favourable race setup and expect her to improve here. She wasn’t suited to the race shape first-up after getting too far back, and she had no luck last start, being caught wide throughout. The mare won at this track/distance third-up last campaign, and she receives a significant barrier change, allowing her to have a much more economical run-in transit. Additionally, she produces her peak figures deep into prep and is over the odds. Each-way.
Dangers:8. Zarrose is racing much better than the formguide suggests, and she has been heavily unsuited her past few runs. The three-year-old wasn’t suited to a farcically run race last start at Rosehill, and she was mathematically out of the race, albeit still running some of the meeting’s fastest closing splits. She drops in grade and is a leading chance.2. Extreme Freedom is the only last-start winner engaged and has a strong record at this track.1. Pioneer Lass is in career-best form, and the claim suits.
How to play it: Nyota E/W.

Race 6 - 4:10PM LANDER TOYOTA MIDWAY BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

Sticking with5. Broadway Bouncer, who was 28 days between runs last start at this track/distance and specked late in the trade. The gelding settled worse than midfield, wasn’t suited to the pace of the race and couldn’t build momentum at critical stages. To his credit, once clear he immediately accelerated and he savaged the line to run second. The clock backed up his visual late strength with the gelding recording the meeting’s fastest final 400m sectional. He’ll appreciate the anticipated genuine tempo and the claim for Anna Roper suits. Good each-way.
Dangers:10. Tears For Fears is a knockout chance, and her first-up run last campaign had hidden merit. She has had one quiet trial and can sprint fresh. Over the odds.1. Vindication can bounce back and add3. Vincenzo, who will savage the line.
How to play it: Broadway Bouncer E/W.

Race 7 - 4:45PM XXXX GOLD BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

5. Natural Deduction was heavily backed first-up at this track, and he loomed to win but peaked on his run. He battled on well to finish third and he’s come in on a career peak figure, with all key indicators suggesting he can only step off that performance. The John O’Shea galloper is still lightly raced and open to sharp improvement. Expect him to roll forward and race well.
Dangers: Happy to forgive4. Jacob’s Time’s last start, when he raced flat at Kensington after chasing a tearaway leader. Before that effort,he had too much to do but ran on well and repeating that performance will put him in the finish. He maps to have all favours and is ready to win.1. La Vesuvius can improve here from a soft draw, and he comes through a high-rating Provincial-Midway Championships qualifier won by smart galloper Tavi Time. Add6. Sonny Fella, who is over the odds.
How to play it: Natural Deduction WIN.

Race 8 - 5:20PM CLARENDON TAVERN BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

Keen on6. Khumbila, who is on an upwards ratings spiral this prep, and he broke through for his maiden win at this track 19 days ago. He led at a fast pace, accelerated, and kept responding under pressure, clocking slick time relative to the day with the margins throughout to confirm the quality. He profiles well for this event;all key indicators suggest he can make the step-in grade. In addition,he is at optimal fitness, brings the best last-start figure and will take some catching.
Dangers:4. Eyeque resumes and his first-up run last campaign at Randwick had hidden merit. The gelding wasn’t suited to the race shape but made-up significant ground and went through the line full of energy, recording some of the meeting’s fastest closing splits. He’s had the two trials leading into this and can sprint fresh.2. Diabelli had too much to do first-up at this track and was a savage drifter in the betting. He ran on well, recording hidden closing splits to his credit, and will undoubtedly improve from that effort.9. The Crimson Idol has a strong record at this track and maps well.
How to play it: Khumbila WIN.

Best Bet: Race 8,No.6 – Khumbila
Next Best: Race 1,No.7 – Jawharat Dubai
