Storm Hunter’s Australian Open singles campaign is over, losing 4-6,7-5,6-3 to ninth seed Barbora Krejcikova in the third round.
The Australian, ranked 180th in the world, never stopped fighting and had a break-back point in the seventh game, but Krejcikova produce a great serve out wide to shut the door.
Krejcikova celebrates with a huge roar towards her coaching box. Speaking after the match, she says she never gave up hope.
“Everything can change in one second. It’s tennis, and every single ball counts,” the woman from the Czech Republic says.
Hunter, who came through the qualifiers to reach the third round for the first time, leaves the court with a smile on her face.
A dream run is over, and means Australia has one representative left in either singles draw:Alex de Minaur.
He’ll play Russian Andrey Rublev, who’s seeded fifth,on Sunday.
