The LNP strongly denied it had referred Ms Frecklington personally, saying the party ”regularly communicated with the ECQ to ensure that we comply with the Act."
Ms Frecklington was left to fend off questions on the issue, which overshadowed her campaign announcement for the day - the removal of a tax on caravan owners.
In one of the most egregious examples of bad timing on an election campaign ever,Ms Frecklington was also the co-host of a $1500-a-head fundraising lunch with Prime Minister Scott Morrison today.
The media were not permitted to attend, with Ms Frecklington’s trailing press pack kept well away from the venue by campaign managers.
Ms Frecklington and the LNP team have now travelled to Mackay and will no doubt hope for fewer campaign potholes on day nine tomorrow.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk meanwhile skated through Tuesday relatively untroubled, with the attention directed at Ms Frecklington giving her clear air to simply make her campaign announcements.

She was lauded by her own MP for Maryborough after she announced
She was briefly brought out of her reverie by some questions related to Jackie Trad’s potential presence on the frontbench of a re-elected Labor government, but the premier firmly shut down any further questions on the issue.
Ms Palaszczuk also dismissed suggestions she needed federal labor Leader Anthony Albanese to make an appearance on the campaign trail saying she didn’t need anyone to “hold her hand”.
The Premier then decided to take the scenic route to Gladstone, taking the tilt train, while the media were sent ahead in their charter plane.
However all of this was overshadowed by the biggest campaign announcement yet- the ECQ says sausage sizzles and bake sales will be allowed on election day.
That’s got to bring a smile to even Ms Frecklington’s face today.
