Queenslandsecured a four-year deal to host the Logies in 2018,but COVID-19 caused the awards’ cancellation for two of those years. Queensland is believed to have first and last rights to extend its contract. Since going to Queensland the event has grown from a one-night to a week-long event.

A Queensland government spokesperson said:“The Logies found a new home on the Gold Coast and a new lease on life. It’s not surprising other states now want them back.

“Queensland has a strong and vibrant screen industry. Celebrating all facets of ‘screen’ had become part of a growing schedule of activities that includes the Logies. It would be a shame if that did not continue.”
