“[I am] So happy right now. I did not expect this,” Streten told presenters Bryce Mills and Concetta Caristo from Los Angeles.
“I grew up listening to the Hottest 100 – it’s been a part of my life and childhood,so to be present in it is surreal.”
The countdown,while announced in 2023,is a list of the most popular songs from the past 12 months.
MAYA-A,whose real name is Maya Cumming,said that she was “lost for words” after she progressed 100 spots from last year’s countdown where she came in at No. 101 for her songTime I Love To Waste.
English DJ and music producers Eliza Rose and Interplanetary Criminal narrowly missed out on the win,with their dance trackB.O.T.A.(Baddest Of Them All)coming in second.
Australian indie-rock band Spacey Jane had an extremely successful top 10 campaign,with their much-loved songHardlight closing out the podium. It’s the third song the band had in the top 10,with their songsSitting Up placing sixth andIt’s Been A Long Dayin fifth.
