Labor has confirmed Tracey Price (left) will challenge LNP Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner (right) at the 2024 council elections.

The mother-of-three was expected to pressure the Liberal National Party on issues such as the cost of living, housing and traffic.

She was also likely to promise more bikeways and footpaths,in an effort to ease congestion.

While Labor had been hoping to attract a more experienced candidate, such as former state government minister Kate Jones,it expected Price to do better than former journalist Patrick Condren.

At the 2020 election, the Condren campaign lost ground to Schrinner, who was first elected as a councillor in 2005.
