Port Adelaide said in a statement that Finlayson “made the club aware during the three-quarter time break and apologised to the victim on field after the final siren last night.
“Finlayson, who will be counselled by club leaders in the coming days, will provide a statement tomorrow.”
The club said it would now wait for the AFL’s investigation to be completed.
Speaking on Channel Nine’sThe Footy Show on Sunday morning,Dillon said the investigation would be handled promptly.
“We’ll look into that,we’ve got to run a process, speak to all involved, but Jeremy’s come out,he’s admitted making the comment and he’s apologised,” Dillon said.
“So now we’ve just got to work through what the accountability will be. I don’t want to put too much of a time frame on it,but it will be done this week.”
