The White Lotus’ Jennifer Coolidge and creator Mike White are heading to Sydney

The White Lotus star Jennifer Coolidge will appear in person at Sydney’s Vivid festival,in conversation with Mike White,the creator of the hit series,organisers announced on Friday morning.

Coolidge,61, also shared the news viaTikTokand Instagram saying:“Hey Australia,it’s Jennifer Coolidge and I’ve just got really exciting news.”

The duo will discuss their time in Hollywood and work together as an exclusive part of Vivid Ideas,an event that brings together filmmakers,authors,actors,and more.

Vivid festival director Gill Minervini said the conversation would allow audiences to “see behind the curtain on what has become a massive cultural zeitgeist and hear from two of the hottest figures in the creative industries right now.”

Jobs and Tourism Minister John Graham described the event as a blockbuster addition to the Vivid program. “There is no doubt this Vivid Ideas event with the series’ leading talent Mike White and Jennifer Coolidge will be a huge drawcard for fans from near and far,” Graham said.

The event will be held on June 10 at the Aware Super Theatre at the ICC Sydney,Darling Harbour,and will be moderated by Benjamin Law.

Beginning in 2009,Vivid Sydney has drawn in major stars from the entertainment industry such asElvisdirector Baz Luhrmann andOldboyfilmmaker Spike Lee. However,organisers said the inclusion of Coolidge and White is one of the biggest announcements in its 13-year history.

The third season of HBO’sThe White Lotus,a comedy-drama parodying lives of luxury,is set for production after the first two seasons garnered major success,winning a Golden Globe forbest limited or anthology series this year.

Though having starred in various hit comedies from the 1990s and 2000s,includingLegally Blonde andAmerican Pie,Coolidge’s career has risen to new heights thanks to her role as the eccentric multi-millionaire Tanya McQuoid in the first and second season ofTheWhite Lotus.

She recently appeared on the cover ofTIME100after being named one of the World’s Most Influential People for 2023.

Coolidge’s appearance at Vivid will not be the first time Coolidge has visited Australian shores. The actress and comedian performedstand up at Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre in 2011 as part of herYours for the Nighttour.

The Golden Globe winner andgay icon also briefly featured at Sydney WorldPride this year when she appeared onscreen at the opening concert to share in the love.

Similar to Coolidge,White also found his beginnings in comedy,acting and writing for films likeSchool of RockandNachoLibre.He also competed in reality TV shows includingSurvivorandThe Amazing Race.

Now 52 years old,White has become a household name and is critically acclaimed for his scriptwriting and direction.
