'The'90s comes through in everything I do':P.E Nation's Pip Edwards

How would you describe your style?

Total tomboy,definitely. Street-inspired with a hint of designer,very high/low with loads of mixing and matching,use of silhouettes and clashing of proportions.

Who are your favourite designers?

I love Kym Ellery,Romance Was Born,Double Rainbouu,Dion Lee – they appeal to my lifestyle. In terms of international designers,I’m a massive fan of Ganni,Alexander Wang and Balenciaga. I mix and match all those with my own brand.

What’s your favourite fashion decade?

Hands down,the 90s,starting with that Calvin Klein vibe,sporty denim … it comes through in everything I do. I can’t let go of the 90s.

What would you wear on …

... a first date? Denim jeans with a singlet and heels,even though I never wear heels.
... a plane? P.E Nation trackies,a massive hoodie,a puffer – I always seem to be going somewhere cold – and a backpack.
... to the Oscars? I’d get something bespoke,maybe a Givenchy number or,locally,Lillian Khallouf.

What are three essential items in your wardrobe?

Sneakers,a swimsuit – I’m a beach girl – and a bum bag.

Can you remember a favourite outfit as a child?

My mum did try to put me in a few dresses,but she was quick to find out it wasn’t me. I wore track pants and trainers,and I loved a bandanna,which I wore across my forehead,like the Karate Kid.

First fashion moment?

Wearing a blue terry-towelling jumpsuit at age three.

What is the oldest thing in your wardrobe?

I’m just going to put it out there,I am a hoarder. Everything in my wardrobe has sentimental value. One of the oldest things,and it’s something I’ve never worn,is a beautiful Vivienne Westwood dress from her 1981 Pirate Collection. It’s quite a crazy piece.

And the latest addition?

A terry-towelling dress by Lucy Folk. Some things don’t change!

What’s your worst fashion mistake?

It was actually my hair. I was working at Tsubi and must have thought I was cool at the time. Someone should have told me otherwise. I had a front quiff,with a mullet and then a rat’s tail that I used to plait. Even the description is mortifying. What was I thinking?

What would you buy if money were no object?

An endless supply of Louis Vuitton,

Is there something you’d never wear?

I do not like floral frills.

Is there a current trend you like?

I actually love them all,apart from anything that looks remotely like a floral frill. I love utility,androgyny,sport,suiting,tailoring,and I like to clash them all.

Current go-to shoes?

Off White x Nike trainers;I have them in two colours. Once upon a time my wardrobe was very heel-heavy. Now they’ve all got dust on them and my trainer collection has taken over.

Do you have a style muse?

I love Victoria Beckham,always,even when she was a Spice Girl. I look to her as a business muse as well.

Favourite casual Sunday look?

If it’s a sunny day,it’s the beach and the bikini. Otherwise it’s P.E Nation.
