Hoskins won gold in the team pursuit at the 2015 world championships and rode in the team pursuit at two Olympic Games. She finished fourth at the 2012 London Games,but a serious training crash caused her to eventually miss the 2016 Rio final.
Dennis retired from the sport last year,having won stages at all three grand tours – the Tour de France,Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana.
Anna Meares,one of Australia’s greatest track cyclists and a two-time Olympic gold medallist,mourned Hoskins on social media.
“I have a very heavy heart,” Meares wrote on Monday morning. “My thoughts are with their children,family and fellow friends. This is a very difficult and tragic time. RIP.”
