But Feck, who posted a photo on Facebook standing beside the blocking his nose, wasn't too impressed.

"The moment you want to do some workout and the pool is closed,"he posted.

"The whole venue smells like somebody has fart #goodmorning #failed #tollermensch."

The colour of the diving pool,as well as the adjacent water polo pool, have been the centre of much conjecture in recent days.

The diving pool is in far worse condition, however Australian water polo player Richie Campbell complained of teary and stinging eyes during their match against Japan earlier in the week.

FINA - the governing body for water sports - blamed it to water treatment problems after water tanks ran out of some chemicals which saw a decrease in the alkalinity of the pool.

"We confirm that diving training in Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre's pool is cancelled this morning,"a Rio 2016 statement said.

"FINA is aware and supports our decision. The reason is that the water must be still so the pool can return to its blue colour as soon as possible. Athletes are performing dry training this morning in Maria Lenk. Diving training will resume at 1pm and the preliminaries at 3.30pm."
