The hot ticket jade rollers look a lot like a double-ended mini paint roller and are usually dual-ended,with a longer oval-shaped stone on one end for cheeks,forehead and chin,and a smaller,rounder stone on the other end for the delicate eye area. For maximum effect,the roller should be chilled in the fridge for an instant de-puffing boost.
History lesson:thejade roller has been around in China since the 17th century,targeting under-eye circles and puffy skin and jade has always been famed for its powers in balancing Chi,the body’s energetic life force.
At home this tool is great as a post,long-haul flight cure. Lie flat,apply asheet mask and then roller ball over it to ensure the mask potion is delivered evenly all over the face.
So what about technique?
- Start by cleansing and then always use the jade roller on skin that is well serumed and moisturised for slip value. Use the larger end of the stone roller for bigger surface areas and the mini stone for the delicate eye area to gently increase blood flow.
- For the orbital area,take the little roller end from the inner corner of the eye to the outer.
- Always roll in an upwardly and outward direction,never down.
- Start with your chin,and then move onto your cheeks and forehead and finish with your orbital area.
- Increase the breadth of the rolling working from the centre of your chin and jawline and then on to the neck finishing at the collarbone.
- It’s all about improving circulation and eliminating toxins in around 30 seconds.
- Beware:if you suffer from eczema or rosacea or have super sensitive skin,jade rolling is probably not for you,as you want to calm the skin,not rev it up.
