The serial entrepreneur, whose ventures include Elle Macpherson Intimates and The Body, said women founders had"fought very hard in business for equality"and believed representation was changing because of the skill sets many women have.
Reflecting on her decades-long career,Ms Macpherson said that models of the 1980s and 1990s had found success through being iconic and inaccessible to the public, whereas now the most successful brand builders had to"get off the pedestal"and engage with communities online.
Women founders have particular strengths in making these connections, she said.
"There’s a big shift towards women CEOs and women founders of businesses...women are more readily open to communicating with their community. They actually reach out and communicate with the community,"she said.

"I also think that women more readily will take risks for intangible returns… women in business will say,not only make a step in business that has a immediate financial return, they’ll make steps towards community, growth, connection."
Discussing her current business ventures,Ms Macpherson said she was"so blessed"to be able to work as the face of the WelleCo,a"super elixir"company that offers vitamin powders retailing for as much as $100 a tin that grew turnover to a reported $21 million in four years.
