All waste glass exports will cease by July, mixed waste plastics by July 2021,while all whole tyres not baled will not be exported after December 2021. Remaining waste exports, such as mixed paper and cardboard, must be halted by June 30,2022,according to the draft plan.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced his proposal to halt waste exports in August. An import ban by China in early 2018,since echoed in some other waste importing nations, threw Australia's recycling and waste industry into turmoil.
Sussan Ley,federal Environment Minister, welcomed the agreements with states and territories on a timetable.

"The next steps are... how do we design what happens across our jurisdictions to bring this to life and make sure that we create that general re-manufacturing circular economy across all of our waste streams?"Ms Ley said.
Industry and state governments, though, had warned that without financial support to develop the recycling industry, much of the waste would end up in landfills or stockpiles.
Minister Ley said the recycling investment fund was one source of support and"there will be other conversations when the time comes".
