Mitchell's contract saga will most likely come to an end in the coming days, with the now ex-Roosters centre finalising the negotiations of a one-year contract with the Rabbitohs.
South Sydney are confident he will be at Redfern on Monday morningfor his first training session, but the contract is yet to be signed.
Mitchell thanked his Roosters teammates in the post, and said he had been"humbled"to play at a club with a"rich history".
"Didn’t think as a Country boy I’d be able to transition to the city but roosters made that possible,"he said.
Mitchell was officially granted a leave of absence from the Roosters on Sunday and did not return to training with the club on Monday morning.
