“My husband is an emergency doctor and I need to be at work,we are both considered front line,so for the school to have some on-site learning really helps us,” Ms Yong said.
Sophie,10,was one of a handful of children at the school on the first day of term two,out of about 500 who are enrolled there.

The children’s desks were spaced far apart and they were drilled to keep their distance from each other at recess,Sophie said. The school playground was also out of bounds.
“We played around with our friends but there was no touching,we had to be 1.5 metres apart,” she said.
Schoolwork was also different,more like homework,she said.
The Andrews government says parents who can work at home must stay home,and that their children will be taught remotely.
