Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne hailed the imminent passage of the inquiry motion as"a win for the international community and Australia".
"We look forward to seeing — hopefully — a positive outcome,"Senator Payne said.
Health Minister Greg Hunt,who is representing Australia at the forum,will on Monday morning urge the World Health Assembly to examine whether the organisation's mandate and inspection powers need to be strengthened to ensure World Health Organisation members have timely access to critical data.

Beijing originally opposed Australia's calls for an independent review,but has been softening its stance in recent days andpledged on Monday to standardise the wet markets where the virus is thought to have emerged from. The US has had concerns the motion does not go far enough after earlier labelling COVID-19 the"Wuhan virus".
