Roxburgh Park man Luay Sako,35,was arrested shortly after the incident when he drove to nearby Mernda police station.
On Thursday afternoon,Mr Sako was transported from hospital to police headquarters to be interviewed.
He was charged with one count of murder several hours later.
During an online filing hearing of the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday night,Mr Sako was not present due to technical difficulties.
The court heard that Mr Sako was in the police cells at Melbourne West police station and that it was his first time in custody.
Asked by the magistrate whether the accused had any medical or mental health issues,Mr Sako's lawyer Sam Norton said he did not.
Detective Senior Constable Mick Drew said it would take longer than normal to serve the hand-up brief as time was needed to compile an extensive amount of CCTV footage,to prepare pathological reports and analyse mobile telecommunications records.
