Recently,Ms Orr acted for the Commonwealth in a matter before the Court of Appealin which drug kingpin Tony Mokbel had one of his convictions quashed because of the Lawyer X scandal.
She also represented Crown Casino in the Bergin inquiry into the casino’s licence in NSW.
She acted as junior counsel assisting the coroner in one of the inquests into the death of toddler Jaidyn Leskie,whose murder remains unsolved. In 2015,she was appointed senior counsel for the state of Victoria in the royal commission into family violence.
The head of that commission,former Court of Appeal judge Marcia Neave,said Ms Orr was a thoughtful,precise and careful lawyer.
“I think she’s wonderful. I’m delighted to see they have appointed such a talented woman,” Ms Neave said.
Ms Orr took the Queen’s Counsel title in 2015,13 years after signing the bar roll.
Before that she was a senior solicitor with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions,and an associate to both former High Court justice Michael McHugh,QC,and former Queensland Chief Justice John Macrossan,QC.
