Vaccination coverage among cases in at-risk groups has risen over the past six weeks,although at varying speeds.

Following awareness campaigns from health authoritiesand the college of obstetricians and gynaecologists,more than 21 per cent of pregnant women infected with COVID-19 in the week ending October 2 were fully vaccinated,up from only 5.7 per cent at the start of September.
However,among the 625 cases reported in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people during that same week,only 22,or about 3.5 per cent,were vaccinated.
Four of the seven COVID-19 deaths reported in NSW on Wednesday were in unvaccinated cases:a Maitland man in his 40s who died at hospital,an Albury aged care resident in his 90s who died at his facility,a woman in her 70s from Sydney’s south-west and a woman in her 70s from the inner city.
A man in his 50s who had received one dose died at home in inner Sydney and tested positive after his death. Two fully vaccinated men in their 90s who were residents of an Illawarra aged care facility also died.
According to federal government data released on Wednesday afternoon,NSW has reached 92.5 per cent first-dose and 82.3 per cent double-dose coverage of its 16 and over population.
