Access to vantage points around the harbour which are managed by the City of Sydney will be free but ticketed. These include Observatory Hill,Beare Park,Bicentennial Park,Pirrama Park,Giba Park and Embarkation Point.

Sydney’s New Year’s Eve fireworks draw an estimated 1.1 billion viewers across the globe.
Most functions and restaurants around the harbour will also be ticketed. Organisers have encouraged revellers to follow any COVID-19 restrictions at the venues they are attending,and are encouraging people to wear a mask,stay home if they are unwell,and be double-vaccinated.
The celebrations will be broadcast on television and radio across the globe as part of the ABC’s event NYE2021:Let’s Celebrate!,hosted by Charlie Pickering,Zan Rowe and Jeremy Fernandez from 8.30pm.
The national broadcaster’s concert at the Opera House forecourt will feature performances from Australian artists Tina Arena,Missy Higgins,Casey Donovan,Genesis Owusu,Gordi,Beccy Cole and Adam Harvey.
Cr Moore said Sydney residents deserved a party after two years of pandemic restrictions and lockdowns,adding the celebrations were an opportunity to support the city’s business,hospitality and tourism industries.

“We’re encouraging people to make a night of it - to book into a restaurant or bar to start the evening,stay overnight at a hotel and support our terrific Sydney businesses,many of whom have really struggled to keep afloat over the past two years,” Cr Moore said.
People coming into the city are advised to use public transport and to keep abreast of road closures. Checkpoints will be set up around the city for residents,event ticketholders and authorised workers.
NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Peter Thurtell urged revellers to plan ahead,particularly if they planned to drink alcohol. He said police would be out in force patrolling roads,waterways and public transport.
“Our absolute priority is to make sure people have a safe and enjoyable night,” he said.
