The residence was owned in the name of Simon’s wife,Sophie Crowe,and settled last week,public records show. Through her lawyers,Ms Crowe declined to comment.
Mr Crowe and two colleagues founded the Grill’d burger chain in 2004 and the business wasvalued at in excess of $450 million by industry experts in 2019,before the pandemic hit.
Although the sale was conducted secretly off-market,one source,with knowledge of the transaction but not authorised to speak publicly,pointed to Marshall White’s Marcus Chiminello as the agent. Mr Chiminello declined to comment.
The home’s previous owner was actor Madeleine West,who sold it at private auction with her then-partner,celebrity chef Shannon Bennett.
Set on about 1250 square metres,the home had been renovated prior to the celebrity couple’s purchase to include a modern extension with parents’ retreat and family room.
